Location

Our apartments are located in a renovated historic townhouse on the quiet street in the city center, just a few steps away from the vibrant heart of the town. The STUDIO aprtment is on the ground floor, and the One bedroom apartment on the first floor.

Parking

The following parking spaces are public, safe and free:

  • Parking on supermarket SPAR
  • Parking next to grocery store Mercator
  • Parking next to the apartment
  • Parking next to the hospital

We also offer a private parking for 5€ per day.

 

Activities

Idrija is a UNESCO site with multiple distinctions. It's recognized for its mercury heritage, specifically the "Mercury Heritage. Almadén and Idrija," which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Additionally, the entire Municipality of Idrija is part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network due to its exceptional geological and natural characteristics. Furthermore, lacemaking in Idrija, along with the broader Slovenian lacemaking tradition, is part of the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

We offer several activities for you:

  • Learn about our local lacemaking tradition and create a simple Idrija lace bracelet.
  • Enjoy working with clay and create a memorable keepsake.
  • If you’re an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, we can take you to several beautiful locations in the nearby nature.
  • Learn how to make a local delicacy called Idrijski žlikrofi — a filled pasta dish that has its own festival in August.

Museums

Idrija has a rich history filled with mysteries and other storys. While on your stay, you will be able to visit:

  • Antonijev rov - the oldest preserved entrance to the Idrija Mercury Mine in Slovenia and one of the oldest in Europe
  • Idrija Municipal Museum in Gewerkenegg castle - the best European museum of industrial and technical heritage in 1997
  • Topilnica Hg Smelting Plant - An exhibition From Ore to Mercury

You can also go for a walk to park Mejca where you will be able to see the Kamšt - the largest preserved wooden water wheel in Europe.

Shopping

We reccomend that you will do your shopping at supermarket SPAR or grocery store Mercator, but if you like a little change you can go for a walk to the other side of town where you will have the option to shop at supermarkets TUŠ and MERCATOR. There are also supermarkets HOFER and EUROSPIN on the edge of town.

Idrija has a rich history that is aslo filled with amazing food. When you don't wan't to cook, we invite you to try some of our most famous culinary meals. Our town offers 13 different restournats that put their own twist on our dishes.
