Our studio serves as a place for learning, collaboration, and creative exploration. We are also proud to host artist-in-residence programs, where artists are invited to stay and work on their projects, enriching our community with their unique perspectives and talents.We already hosted:
2023 - Jerneja Frlež - author
Authoor Jerneja Frlež wrote her literary debut, a collection of short stories titled "Gnezda" in our STUDIO apartment. It was created almost in one go during a residency with Založba Bogataj, almost as a kind of journal documenting the development of the relationship between the visitor and the town. The stories are a tribute to the people of Idrija, photographer Josip Pelikan, who began his photographic journey in Idrija, and ethnologist Franjo Baš, who researched Idrija’s architectural heritage.
2024 - Karlo Kirri - designer studio
Dup Karlo Kirri stayed in the STUDIO apartment while setting up a digital animation for a lace exhibition "Women power, with Klimt in lace". The exhibition celebrated the artistry of Idrija lace makers, who have beautifully reimagined Gustav Klimt’s masterpiece Die Jungfrau in delicate lace patterns. They have chosen more than thirty different fragments of the painting and conveyed them into lace patterns, using different colours and techniques. All the pieces were also merged in an installation, accompanied by a digital animation of Klimt’s painting. The digital animation was created by the duo Karlo Kirri.
2025 - Sofia Miljatović - director
Sofia Mijativić filmed a short fiction film titled "Samo četrtina" ("Only a Quarter") in our STUDIO apartment. With a crew of 13 members, she created a film about a restless young photographer that spends the day in reflection, anxiety, and quiet revelations, while grappling with the question of what it means to grow up.
2025 - Maks Jeriha - artist
Maks Jeriha, a painter, costume designer and producer, painted a wonderful piece of art in our SPACE, while staying in our ONE BEDROOM apartment. The painting became the centerpiece of one of Idrija's Lace Festival showrooms.
